Spotlight on... Brass
I just love the variety of its form, for example I’m attracted to both its whimsical qualities - take the Aspirin pill box or the teddy bear wall hooks, as well as its physical qualities - the way it has been modelled or cast and its attention to true detail. Pieces that have been modelled on nature such as the hinged crab ashtray or scallop shell bookends really highlight this.
I also take great delight in cleaning and polishing my brass, spending a lot of time with a lot of elbow grease bringing back its original shine, that way I think it really pops!
Brass is such a great addition to any room, whether it’s a pair of candle sconces on either side of a fireplace, a paperweight on a desk or a trinket dish on a coffee table, it’s an easy way to introduce vintage pieces into a modern space.
